John Torrence
AIF® · CRPS®
John Torrence brings over three decades of distinguished wealth management experience to Masso Torrence. He began his career in 1994 and formed the Masso Torrence partnership with Chris Masso in 1999 while at Deutsche Bank Alex. Brown. Today, together with Chris and Nicholas, John delivers a highly collaborative planning experience tailored to high-income professionals, specialty physicians and dentists, business owners, and retirees. He specializes in guiding clients through complex financial landscapes, including generational wealth management, tax optimization, philanthropic strategies, and advanced estate planning.
As a Principal of the firm, John focuses heavily on investment management and portfolio design. He leverages Farther’s advanced Intelligent Wealth platform alongside a curated network of specialized partners to construct bespoke portfolios tailored to each client's unique objectives. Additionally, John advises business owners on complex sale transactions and leads fiduciary education for 401(k) plan sponsors, helping corporate clients explore alternative retirement plans that allow for significantly higher tax deferrals.
John holds two respected industry designations: Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) and Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist℠ (CRPS®), demonstrating his dedication to standard-setting fiduciary oversight and retirement strategy.
Deeply committed to making a positive impact, John actively supports charitable organizations dedicated to cancer research, children’s health and development, and animal welfare. Outside the office, he is an avid Philadelphia sports fan and spends his summers with family and friends in Margate. He lives locally in Marlton with his wife, Melissa, and they are proud parents of their son, Jack, who attends St. Joseph’s University.
