Private Wealth
Meeting you where you are, guiding where you want to go
We meet clients at whatever stage their wealth has reached, and the work scales as the family and the balance sheet get more complicated.
In short
MTP Private Wealth at Farther manages investments, planning, and tax strategy for families across southern New Jersey, most of them successful business owners, specialty physicians, high-earning professionals, and retirees. Clients usually reach us through their accountant or attorney, at the point where their finances stopped fitting a simple answer.
Who we work with
Situations that tend to bring people here
None of these are unusual on their own. They arrive together, which is the actual problem.
- You own a business, and your personal and company finances are hard to separate.
- A sale or another liquidity event is somewhere in the next few years.
- One position has grown into most of your net worth.
- You have property, entities, or accounts in more than one state.
- Somebody set up a trust years ago and nobody has read it since.
- You have an accountant and an attorney, and no one coordinating between them.
Planning
Deciding what the money is for
Everything else follows from this. A portfolio is a tool, and it needs to know what job it has.
Financial planning
The plan is a document once and a process afterward. We build the first version around what you want the money to do, then revisit it when your life gives us a reason to.
Retirement planning
Working out what your savings support, then what to draw from and in what order. For most of our clients the withdrawal sequence matters as much as the accumulation did.

Moving money to the next generation is the straightforward half. We spend more time on whether they are ready for it, which usually means bringing adult children into the conversation early.
Trust and estate planning
We work alongside your estate attorney rather than in place of one. Reviewing titling and beneficiaries, checking that documents still match your intent, and flagging what has drifted since they were signed.
Investing and tax
Then building the thing that funds it
The plan sets the job. These are the instruments that do it, and the tax work that decides how much survives.
Investments and portfolio management
Portfolios built around your tax situation, your timeline, and what you already hold. Before we change anything, we look at what you paid for each position and the tax a sale would trigger.
We would rather explain one decision clearly than run a strategy you cannot describe to your spouse.
Tax planning
Most of this work happens well before December. We plan the year's income, gains, and withdrawals with your CPA while a decision can still change the tax, rather than at filing time.
Asset location, harvesting losses through the year, choosing which account a withdrawal comes from, and spreading large gains across tax years.
Asset management
Access to Farther's investment platform and research, including strategies that usually require institutional scale. Private market investments are among them, where they suit your plan and how soon you may need the money.
Portfolio construction stays tied to your plan rather than running alongside it.
Risk and insurance review
Reading the policies you already pay for and telling you what they actually cover. We compare your life, disability, and liability coverage with what you own now and what your family would need.
Umbrella liability and long-term care get looked at on a schedule rather than when something happens.
Private investments are available only to qualified clients and involve risks, including the potential loss of the entire investment, limited liquidity, and limited transparency.

If you own the business
The planning that matters most happens before the offer
Owners tend to call an advisor when a buyer appears. By then the most valuable planning has usually expired: entity structure, how your stock qualifies, gifting done while the valuation is still low. We work with owners twelve to twenty-four months out, which is when those options are open.
Common questions
Questions before a first call
We look at the situation rather than a number. Most of our private clients come to us with complexity: a business, concentrated stock, multiple entities, or a portfolio built over decades that has outgrown a simple answer. If your situation is simpler than that, we will say so on the first call and point you toward someone better suited.
Directly, and with your permission. A large part of the value here is coordination: making sure the tax plan, the estate documents, and the investment strategy are solving the same problem. We would rather join a call with your CPA than send three parties separate conclusions.
We have a transparent fee schedule, and we share it with you at the end of the first meeting, once we understand the scope and complexity of the work. We are not able to post it on the website, but nothing about it is hidden. You will see the full schedule before you decide anything.
A conversation, then a review where we map what you have against what you are trying to do and name the gaps. If we move forward, the first quarter is spent consolidating accounts, correcting titling and beneficiaries, and putting the tax and estate work in a sequence.
You work with the people on this site. Chris, John, and Nick handle client relationships directly, and Samantha handles service and onboarding. The firm operates at Farther, whose platform provides the technology, research, and reporting behind that work. Your assets are held at an independent custodian rather than at Farther: Schwab, Fidelity, Pershing, or Apex.
Next step
Bring us the complicated one
The first conversation is half an hour and costs nothing. If your situation is not a fit for this firm, we will tell you and suggest where to look.
